The LSA Board is extremely thankful for the many donations and volunteers that make our lake and Association great. After the event filled 4th of July weekend we think it is a good time to acknowledge some of these people. I sincerely hope we aren’t leaving anyone out.
First, thank you to all of the Members who have donated extra funds above and beyond their annual dues to make fish planting, weed control, bog removal and the goose management program less costly to the Association. Fish were planted in May, annual weed control activities are underway, the large bog near the Island is under continued evaluation and reduction, and we are currently down to one goose on the lake! A huge thank you to the Aqua Advisory Committee members (Doug Ringler, Jim Hutchinson, Doug Holtvluwer, Darrin Bernatowicz & Daniel Swanson) and Chairperson (David Kamps) for their assistance on these projects, including the numerous hours spent obtaining petitions for the goose roundup. Thank you to the additional volunteers, Ted Callendar, Tom & Jeanie Stormes, Dan Swanson, Bob Visser, Phyllis Lovell, Bob Ek and Ken Ek during the roundup.
Thank you to all Members who are participating in our newly formed Parks Advisory Committee, Bylaw Revisions Advisory Committee and Finance & Budget Advisory Committee. Your time and talents are appreciated. Numerous park projects are underway, including Randy Wrona & Ken Ek installing two small sections of dock at Pow Wow point for Members to safety reach the banks of the Park from their boats. These small dock sections are not meant for docking boats, but to provide safety traversing over the slippery & rocky bank. Dick Hokanson, Rich Tjalsma, Ed & Marilyn Walenga and Debra Baarman have 3 new picnic tables ready for the parks, with 2 more in the works. Additional volunteers are needed to transport the tables to the parks, as well as removing existing tables. If you would like to help, please contact Randy Wrona, (616) 617-4766, firstname.lastname@example.org.
THANK YOU for your fireworks donations! Melrose put on an excellent display this year. A big thank you to Tammy Williams and Ray Brimmer for their clean up of Tepee Island before the display, and Doug Ringler for assisting Melrose in getting the fireworks back and forth from the island.
Thank you Keith Alexis, State Farm, for sponsoring the the ski show, Grand City Show Skiers for sharing your talents with us, and Don & Belinda Case for providing the lot space for the show.
Another big thank you to Kathy Mason for obtaining prizes and organizing the successful boat parade, and to Bill & Jill Walters for providing space for the parade line up and voting. The Disney destination boat was the big winner this year! Congratulations!
Thank you to Dick Hokanson for staining our entrance sign this spring, and Jan Malmo & Brenda Visser for improving our Member posting sign next to the map at the entrance to the Association.
A huge thank you to Sue Guigelaar for her continued work on stickering watercraft for lake access and assisting in holiday boat launch security. Please remember that ALL watercraft, including kayaks, need an Association sticker. See the website for proper forms and contact information for Sue. The Association WILL enforce this necessary requirement.
Thank you to our architectural committee, Doug Ringler, Jim Hutchinson & David Korhorn, for continuing to evaluate and approve Member projects. The committee is working on developing helpful information for posting on the website, and they should be contacted FIRST before ANY architectural project. Association approval is necessary before obtaining Township approval.
