LAKE TREATMENTS
The next PLM lake treatment is scheduled for Thursday, June 22, 2017. PLM will be treating for algae and Eurasian Water Milfoil. The Milfoil treatments carry a 24 hour swimming restriction. PLM will post notices around the lake when they conduct the treatment.
GOOSE ROUNDUP
With the assistance of volunteers manning pontoon boats, the goose roundup was conducted Thursday, June 15, 2017. Our contractor, Goose Control of West Michigan, captured 44 adults and goslings out of the 49 that were observed during the census conducted after Memorial Day. The captured geese were released at the Hodenpyl Dam Pond near Mesick.
Several male geese bolted from the two flocks in an effort to lure people away from the goslings. These individuals were not able to be captured due to the fact that they have some flight capabilities. According to the Goose Control staff, it is expected that they will leave Indian Lake when they complete the molting process.
Much appreciation is extended to David Kamps for his efforts on this program, and the roundup volunteers: Ted Callender, Bob Ek, Ken Ek, Phyllis Lovell, Jeanie Stormes, Tom Stormes, Dan Swanson and Bob Visser.
Sincerely,
Lake Shores Association
