Spring is here and the LSA Board would like to update the Membership on news and important dates.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
On March 26, 2017 the Board received written notice of Valerie Pritchard’s resignation from the LSA Board of Directors. The Board accepted her resignation with appreciation for her service. Pursuant to the LSA Bylaws, Article VII, Section 2, “Vacancies in the Board of Directors shall be filled by appointment made by the remaining directors….” The Board moved to extend an invitation to the candidate receiving the next largest number of votes from the previous election. Said candidate was unable to accept the invitation at this time. The Board then moved to extend an invitation to Ken Ek to fill the Board vacancy and Mr. Ek accepted the appointment on April 23, 2017. Mr. Ek’s contact information is listed under the “Contact” tab on the website.
Board meetings are scheduled at the Pavilion on Saturday, May 6, 9:00 A.M.; Thursday, June 1, 7:00 P.M.; Saturday, July 8, 9:00 A.M.; and, due to scheduling conflicts, the tentative date for the annual meeting of the Membership is Saturday, August 19, 9:00 A.M. All Members are encouraged to attend these meetings.

Construction of the new website is ongoing, but a large amount of information is now updated and posted. All 2016-2017 Board Meeting Minutes are posted under the “Members” tab and a 2017 proposed budget and first quarter profit and loss statement is posted under the “Members Only” section of the Members tab. This location requires a password, which was provided to all Members by Gerow Management upon receipt of their annual dues (same as the boat launch code). Documentation from the old website has been moved to the new site.
DUES & ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS
All 2017 required annual Membership dues were due as of April 1, 2017. There are still a significant number of outstanding dues and the Association requests immediate payment c/o Gerow Management. These funds are critical to maintaining the Association common areas, lake and neighborhood. The Association is very grateful for the generous donations of its Members towards fireworks, the goose control program, weed control, fish planting, bog removal and the general fund.
FIREWORKS & THE 4TH OF JULY
The annual fireworks display from Tepee Island will be held on Saturday,
July 1, at dark. The ski show sponsored by Keith Alexis, State Farm, will be held on Sunday, July 2, at 2:00 P.M. We are still seeking a volunteer to organize the annual boat parade. If interested, please notify Tricia Korhorn, LSA Secretary, email@example.com.
LAKE FORUM – GOOSE CONTROL PROGRAM UPDATE
The Aqua Advisory Group will hold a lake forum on Saturday, May 13, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at the Pavilion. Topics for discussion at the forum will include the goose management program, fish planting and weed control, among others. The Association has received 75% approval of the lakefront property owners to conduct the goose management program (over the required minimum) and the Association will proceed to obtain necessary approval and permits. The Association has also received Member donations that will cover this year’s cost of the program.
SPRING YARD WASTE DUMPSTERS
Spring yard waste dumpsters will be available beginning on Saturday, May 13, at the Pawnee & Shady Oaks parks. Each dumpster is scheduled to be replaced one time. It is critical that ONLY YARD WASTE (without bags) be placed in these dumpsters.
All watercraft must be properly stickered by the Association to be allowed on our private lake. Sue Guigelaar (231) 648-6193, firstname.lastname@example.org should be contacted for stickers. Rules are posted under “Boating Rules” on the website. Members should also remember that AT ALL TIMES boat traffic is to proceed counter-clockwise around the lake, all watercraft must maintain a minimum distance of 100 feet from all other boats and objects, spotters are required on all watercraft with a person in tow, and high speed boating, in any form, is restricted to the hours of 11:00 A.M. to 8:30 P.M. AT ALL OTHER TIMES “no wake” speed limits apply to ALL watercraft.
It should also be noted that it is EXTREMELY important that all watercraft be thoroughly rinsed before being placed in our lake. There are numerous very costly invasive species that can easily be introduced to our lake. As a first line of defense, it is imperative that ALL watercraft (including canoes & jet skis, etc.) be clean before entering our lake.
The Association would like to thank Board Members Randy Wrona and Ken Ek and Volunteer Bob Ek for placing “no wake” buoys and stump/bog markers on the lake for the season. If Members run into (hopefully not literally) additional stumps that need marking, please contact either Randy Wrona or Ken Ek. Stump/bog location coordinates can be found on the website.
COMMUNITY WIDE GARAGE SALES
The lake wide garage sale date is Saturday, June 3. The Association is seeking a volunteer to sell the remaining Indian Lake sweatshirts on this date. If interested, please contact Tricia Korhorn, email@example.com.
