The Lake Shores Association Annual Membership meeting was held last Saturday, August 6, 2016.
President Dick Hokanson provided a “year in review” presentation.
Financial Statements for the Calendar Year 2015 and the first six months of 2016 were presented. Also a “Source and Application of Funds” statement combined with a “2016 Budget” revealed that the current financial condition of the Association is very good. There should be no need to adjust the annual dues assessment during this year.
Mr. Dave Kamps, Chairman of the AQUA Advisory Group and designated LSA liaison with Professional Lakes Management (PLM) reported on many lake issues. His topics included water quality, celery weed problems, fish plantings, bog removal progress, possible goose control practices and muskrat removal.
It was reported that the new MAIL CHIMP email system is working well with approximately 340 member email addresses. ( The total membership count is 499 members ) it was noted however that the readership of any given email struggles to to be a disappointing 50%. A member suggested that everyone who is registered should check their computer settings to make sure that the LSA emails are not going to “junk’ or “spam.” With regard to the website, a professional web designer has been contracted and the new Board of Directors will be reviewing the progress on this project.
Dick Hokanson commented on the completion of the outside and inside renovation of the Abbott Pavilion , the employment and transition of the Association cash handling and accounting functions to Gerow Management Company, the development of a policy for “Free of Charge” use of the pavilion by LSA members for LSA social events and a review of this years’ fireworks display.
In the member Q&A portion of the meeting questions were asked about the bookkeeping functions during the calendar year 2014 , the present practices for the collection of delinquent dues, the ability of a member to post “No Trespassing” signs on their dock, consideration of a lake entrance sign on Arbogast Rd. and how can members get their roads paved.
At the conclusion of the Q&A session President Dick Hokanson expressed, not only his but also that of all Association members, a sincere debt of gratitude to those Board members who were concluding their service on the Board due to the election. Those members were Sue Guigelaar, Darrin Bernatowicz and Lori Kropewnicki.
The new Board members were then introduced in order of the votes received. The new Board of Director members are Dave Malmo, Tricia Korhorn, Val Pritchard, Randy Wrona and Dick Hokanson.
The new Board announced that they had elected Dick Hokanson as President and Dave Malmo as Vice-President and were deferring the election of other officers pending further discussions.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:03 a.m.
